Did you know that there are an estimated 2 BILLION moms in the world right now? Each minute, 4 babies are born. Moms are a big deal. We cannot say that enough. Moms are a big deal.
In a month, the world will focus 1 day on moms. This is your first warning – Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 9. Start planning now.
COVID-19 has changed each community and person. You may not be able to take Mom out for brunch, purchase a hanging basket or card for her. We’ve put together 4 great ideas that you can do to help honour and celebrate how much you appreciate your mom and the mom-like figures you have in your life.
Make her favourite meal
Your mom has a favourite meal. If you’re not quite sure what it is, ask! One of the great opportunities of Mother’s Day is to shower your mom in love and affection. Consider putting together her favourite meal for her. Maybe this means take-out or preparing it yourself.
If you’re preparing it yourself, practice first at home. Then you’ll feel more relaxed and calm. Don’t be hard on yourself. Your mom will appreciate the fact that you are cooking. Offer to wash up afterwards. It’s Mother’s Day and washing dishes is easy.
Bake her favourite dessert
Mom knows your favourite dessert and may always keep it in the house. But what’s hers? Find out. Ask your mom what her favourite dessert is and make it for her.
Many of the gifts you can buy for your mom she would love. But while you’re baking and delivering the baking, you’re thinking about your mom. You’re creating memories for both her and you. Maybe she loves brownies and hasn’t had one in ages. Here’s a recipe for Black Bean Brownies – which are gluten-free!
Give her an experience
As COVID taught us, we need to spend more time doing fun activities. Attractions around the world are now visible from the comfort of our homes. You can take Mom to Stonehenge in the UK, visit the Louvre in Paris, see the Pyramids in Egypt or visit the Netherlands.
Give a homemade coupon book
Create a homemade coupon book filled with tasks that you can help your mom with. Include coupons good for a dinner and a movie with you, 1 full day of yard work in the spring and fall, a family photoshoot and time to spend together. Whatever you fill the coupon book with, make it personal between you and your mom. If you’ve got kids, have them help you with this creation.
Gift selfcare
Sometimes moms need a break. This might look like an hour in the bathtub with our Goat’s Milk Bath or our Coffee Body Scrub, away from the kids and you. Or it might mean a break through the week. Giving moms a moment a few minutes of peace and quiet is the easiest gift you can give her for Mother’s Day.
Each year we spend Mother’s Day trying to honour and show our moms how much we love and appreciate them. This year be sure to spoil your mom. She and all the other 2 billion moms deserve it. They raised us to be good humans. Let’s show her how much we appreciate her sacrifices.
