With the great summer weather arriving, we want to make sure our feet are ready for their close up! As we transition to sandals, let’s get ready to show off our pedicure!
We suggest having the following items on hand for the ultimate pedicure:
-nail clippers
-nail file
-a base coat
-a top coat
-a funky nail polish colour
While these items aren’t required, to give yourself the ultimate pedicure these items will help
-foot bath,
-cuticle oil
-a foot file for reducing and removing calluses from your feet and toes
Step 1 – Begin by removing old polish from your toes.
Step 2 – Soak your feet. Here’s where the foot bath comes in handy. Soak your feet in the foot bath to soften your skin. Don’t have a foot bath? You can use a basin with Epsom salts in the foot bath’s place.
We suggest soaking for 5 to 10 minutes. It’ll feel incredible to sit and relax while soaking your feet. If you have cuticle remover, you can use it after drying your feet off. You can also apply the cuticle remover to the bottoms of your feet – playing attention to problem areas like your heels.
Step 3 – Trim and File your nails. Begin with clipping your toenails. Don’t worry about the shape of your toenails. After you clip them, find your nail file and shape them.
If your heels and toes feel rough, now is the time to use a file or pumice stone to remove some of the rough or dead skin. Be gentle as you file or pumice the bottom of your feet.
Step 4 – Massage. As you finish filing your feet, begin to give yourself a gentle massage. A foot massage feels incredible! Pay close attention to your arches. Have a partner? Have them help you with this stage. May we suggest our Body Oil to help with the massage? You can also use our Foot Balm to moisturize the bottoms of your feet.
Step 5 – Prep your toes. Using cotton balls or toe separators to prepare your toes for polish. You can also twist a paper towel and utilize this in case you don’t have toe separators.
Step 6 – Apply a base coat to your toes. If you want your pedicure to last, apply a thin base coat of nail polish to your toes. This will create a natural barrier between the oil on your nails and the polish colour.
Step 7 – Apply the colour! Once the base coat has completely dried, apply your colour of choice. Looking for something flirty and fun? Not to worry, we know there’s a colour for you. Want something subtle? There’s a colour available for you.
Step 8 – After the colour coat is completely dried, apply a top coat. While some colours appear to be dried after 5 minutes. We suggest waiting 10-20 minutes before applying the top coat. This will ensure that your colour is dried and sealed.
If you happen to muck up the colour, don’t worry! You’re giving yourself a few moments of self-care so don’t stress. There’s lots of time to remove small colour spots from your toes. You can always touch up your toenails before applying the top coat.
You’re in charge of your pedicure. We hope this will help you get your feet ready for pedicure and sandals weather!
