As the kids finish school, your opportunities for self care are few and far between. But when extra demands on your time, we’d like to remind you that you are important too. Your self care matters, even in the summer.
What is self care?
In the winter months, we suggest spending a few minutes soaking in the tub, DIY pedicure or manicure or spending some quality time with yourself. In the summer months, it is just as important for you to care for yourself, while also caring for others.
We mean taking time for you. This might look like a soak in a cool bath during hot temperatures, spending a few minutes swinging in a hammock outside, spending a few minutes tending your garden and getting your hands dirty.
Self care looks exactly like whatever you want it to.
Love reading? Self care might be spending a late evening finishing that book you can’t put down!
Love camping? Self care might mean packing your vehicle with a tent, sleeping bag and supplies for a weekend spent camping. Don’t forget the sunscreen, hat and bug spray!
Love gardening? Self care might mean spending hours tending your garden, fruits, veggies and lavender plants, watering, weeding and visiting your plants. Don’t forget the sunscreen and wide brimmed hat if you’re going to be outside in the sun.
Self care helps you re-align with what’s important to you – you, your family, your friends, your loved ones, your passions. It also gives your brain a much needed break to process. Like sleep, self care gives your brain a break.
Just because the temperature is climbing, don’t forget about caring for yourself.
