With holidays returning to be in-person, we’ve put together some great tips on how to wow your guests and be an incredible host.
In the last few years, many of our holidays and celebrations have been virtual, performed through a screen. As we embrace a return to seeing people in-person and celebrating many of the milestones we’ve missed, know that you are the sole driver as to what events and milestones you attend.
Depending on the time of year many of us will host family meals, friends’ gatherings, barbecues, cookouts, holiday events and more. As Easter, Mother’s Day and summer approaches we know you’re planning on hosting events. If you’re hosting an event, here are some great ideas to consider:
Introductions
Regardless of who is attending your gathering, offer introductions. If you’re attending or hosting an event where you’re certain that guests will not know each other, offer an introduction. This small gesture can help break the ice between guests and increase cross-mingling.
Have plenty of food and drinks
When having guests over, for a barbecue, for a birthday, for an anniversary, or any other gathering, it’s safe to overprepare the amount of food and drinks. If it’s a hot day, more people may want a cool drink. If it’s a cold day, more may want a hot beverage or food. By overpreparing food and drinks you are eliminating the possibility of running out of food or beverages.
Give Your Guests What They Love
Depending on the event, providing your guests a tailored approach is the way to go. Make your guests feel special by giving your guests an empathetic experience. Perhaps there are some items, like flowers, scents or more than your guests enjoy. Consider adding these personal touches to their room if they’re staying over. Your guests will feel appreciated and seen.
Ask Your Friends
Looking for the best way to engage with your guests and friends? Talk to your friends about how to be a great host. Friends and loved ones are full of different experiences and conditions as to what makes a great host or hostess. Seek feedback from those you trust.
Join in
The challenge with hosting a party, gathering or event is making time to join in on the celebrations. But when making time to mingle, you’ll feel part of the celebrations. Circle the venue and chat with guests. When visiting guests, if you’re appearing to have a good time, they will too. That energy is reflected back in enjoyment.
If attending an event, we recommend always bringing a host or hostess gift. We recommend our Self Care Gift Set, Feel Good Gift Set, flowers or wine!
As we enter the holiday and party season of the summer, attending events and being a great host are going to take up space in your brain. We’ve put together some tips to make it easier on you. Enjoy!
