It’s a mouthful – in more ways than one!
We’ve been getting rave reviews about our Lavender Pepper blend. Many are seasoning savoury sides and main dishes with it and getting yummy results. But we want to share an idea for an easy and delicious snack that is elevated with the addition of our Lavender Pepper blend. Movie night will never be the same!
Belvedere’s Lavender works with so many main and side dishes, adding a little je ne sais quoi without overpowering other flavours. However, when you add it to a food that’s essentially a blank slate, the unmistakable flavours if lavender, pink peppercorns, coriander seeds, and a hint of cane sugar takes centre stage.
A Healthy, Flavourful Snack
Popcorn makes a pretty great snack. It’s loaded with fibre, unlike many of its convenience snack alternatives like chips and pretzels. And it’s fun to eat. Many pets even love it, and you don’t have to feel bad about feeding your dog or cat popcorn (just set some plain popcorn aside for them before you add butter, salt, and seasonings).
Of course, lavender is beneficial, and not just for its aromatic properties, but also for its nutritional value. It contains Vitamin A, Calcium, and Iron, and also imparts protective and calming effects as does its fragrance when it’s inhaled.
Peppercorns and coriander seeds also provide nutritional value, but the effects will be minimal in the amounts you would consume with the average meal. That said, one cannot overstate the impact they have on flavour, especially in combination with our Culinary Lavender and cane sugar.
There are a wide variety of snacks that would benefit from the addition of some ground Lavender Pepper, but for now, here’s how we suggest taking your popcorn to another level.
Recipe: Lavender Pink Peppercorn Popcorn
What you’ll need:
- Undressed prepared popcorn
- Melted Butter, Coconut Oil, or Olive Oil
- Belvedere Lavender Pepper
- Spice Grinder or Mortar & Pestle (to grind Lavender Pepper)
Optional:
- Salt to taste
Easy-Peasy Method:
Pre-grind desired amount of Lavender Pepper and set aside. Prepare popping corn at home using your preferred method. When ready, drizzle melted butter, coconut oil, or olive oil over popcorn in a large bowl and toss periodically to distribute evenly.
Immediately after adding your wet ingredient, sprinkle on Lavender Pepper and additional seasonings, as desired. Remember, a little goes a long way. A couple teaspoons should be plenty, but feel free to adjust up or down to make it just the way you like it.
Other Additions:
